Bio

Meet Jeff King, a dedicated and passionate assistant instructor at ROC Martial Arts Academy and past student. Jeff’s journey in martial arts began at the young age of 10 in 1997, when he started training in Okinawa GoJu Ryu karate. With a relentless drive to master his skills, Jeff achieved his 2nd Brown belt and transitioned to Finn’s Kenpo Karate, further honing his abilities over many years.

Jeff's initial motivation for martial arts was rooted in self-defense. However, his introduction to mixed martial arts (MMA) ignited a determination to expand his knowledge and evolve into a well-rounded fighter. His dedication and hard work culminated in becoming a former WFC Lightweight Champion in MMA, during which he immersed himself in various styles, including boxing, kickboxing, grappling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

While Jeff doesn’t favor one form over another, he has a strong affinity for ground fighting due to the high percentage of fights that end on the ground. His thirst for knowledge in self-defense is insatiable, driving him to continuously improve his skills.

Teaching martial arts is more than a pass-time for Jeff; it's a passion. He finds immense satisfaction in sharing his expertise, hoping that students never need to use their skills in an intense situation but are prepared to defend themselves and their loved ones if necessary.

Outside of the dojo, Jeff’s life is filled with intriguing interests. He has a unique collection of martial arts knives and cherished childhood memories of watching Power Rangers. Raised in Danville, KY, and now residing in Stanford, Jeff enjoys spending quality time with his family, drawing, and working out.

With his extensive training background and unwavering commitment to martial arts, Jeff King is an inspiring and invaluable addition to the ROC Martial Arts Academy team, dedicated to helping students achieve their best.
