ROC Rules

1.    There will be only positive language allowed in the school. Negative statements such as cursing or talking about each other will not be tolerated. 
2.    Personal hygiene is an essential element of Martial Arts as well as tradition. Hair and nails should be kept neat and trim for safety purposes. Deodorant and bathing are a must. Uniforms should be kept neat and clean at all times. Take pride in your appearance. 
3.    A black t-shirt with sleeves must be worn underneath your gi top. If you are overheating during class, you may ask permission to take your gi top off during class. During the summer months, the standard uniform is a ROC’s t-shirt, gi pants and karate belt. When techniques are applied in class, it becomes necessary to have sleeves on the t-shirt for proper demonstration. Tuck your t-shirt into your gi pants. 
4.    No chewing gum in class. 
5.    You shall refer to your instructor as Mr., Ms., or Sensei. 
6.    Respect and brotherhood will be shown to every student by every student regardless of age, rank, sex, or any other factors. 
7.    All black belts will be addressed in a respectful manner at all times. This time honored Karate tradition fosters a desire in the senior (Black Belts) to assist the junior (lower ranks).
8.    Instructors must have the undivided attention of the students. This is so that the students will not miss instruction critical to their advancement. 
9.    Theft from other students is considered extremely disrespectful to the students, instructors, and the school and therefore, will not be tolerated. 
10.  All financial commitments to the school must be adhered. If your school tuition is not current, you will not be able to test for the next rank level. 
11.  Show respect to your training area and instructors, and school by bowing when you enter or leave a dojo. (training area)
12.  Expect to give your very best effort at each and every class.
13.  Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled class time to allow yourself ample warm up time.
14.  If you must travel more than three steps during class time activities, you must run to show enthusiasm and make the best use of your instructor’s time.
15.  Jewelry such as earrings, watches, rings, and long necklaces can be hazardous in a karate class environment and must not be worn during class. These items are not necessary to learn Martial Arts.
16.  Do you not wear shoes on the training mats or the dojo floor.
17.  Do not play or climb on the punching bags-there will be a 100 jumping jacks penalty if caught climbing on the bags-add an additional 50 for each occurrence after first offense. 
18.  When late to class, please wait to be bowed into class. This assures that you receive class credit and it shows respect to your classmates. 
19.  Only wear your belt inside the karate school - you may wear your belt outside for special school functions only. 
20.  During class if you need to fix your uniform, belt, hair, etc….. please turn in the opposite direction of the Black Belt instructor in class. 
21.  All students must attend at least 2 classes a week and make up any classes as soon as possible, in order to be suggested for testing. Please call if you are going to miss your scheduled class and let your instructor know why.
